Contoured Composi-Tight sectional matrix bands restore the natural, anatomical shape of teeth. The G-Ring tension provides tooth-separating force.
1. Matrix band is placed (Advanced Tip #1b) and wedged to seal the cervical margin (Figure 1). Pick a wedge size that firmly seals the cervical margin. The ring will provide tooth-separating force for a tight contact. It is not necessary to separate the teeth with the wedge, although some separation may occur.
2. Open and place G-Ring with Composi-Tight Ring Placement Forceps or rubber dam forceps (Figure 2). Grasp G-ring® at its outermost diameter. For an M.O. or D.O., use the G-Ring with the standard length tines. The long-tine G-Ring is used for M.O.D. and multiple-tooth restorations. Place the tines of the G-Ring between the band and the wedge (not on top of wedge), Figure 11. For restorations with wide embrasures, see Advanced Technique Tip # 3.
3. Matrix is burnished against the adjacent tooth (Figure 3).
4. Etch, disinfect, bond, apply composite resin and cure per the manufacturers instructions.
