Anterior Facial Finishing
Begin with the 9mm slim taper (Figure 1), using the long, straight tapered shape to define the main facial plane. The smaller ultra fine flame can be substituted on small restorations. You should be able to define all facial anatomy with this one bur. Begin polishing with the pink medium finish diamond polishing cup using a light pressure. Complete the polishing with the white high shine diamond polishing cup using light pressure. The white cup will provide an excellent high gloss shine without the use of pastes or pumice.

Anterior Class III (ML/DL)
Begin with the medium football (Figure 2). Clear any flash and rough in lingual anatomy. Use the ultra fine flame to refine the margins. Complete by polishing using the pink medium finish cup. Beginning with medium pressure, easing to light pressure. Further polishing can be done with the white high shine diamond polishing cup, if desired.

Bicuspid and Molar Class I and Class II
Begin with the medium pear (Figure 3). Rough in the occlusal anatomy and pits. Use the flatter sides of the bur for gross reduction of any flash on the occlusal margins. Use the ultra fine flame (Figure 4) for removing any proximal flash (the ultra fine finish of this carbide diminishes the need for interproximal polishing). The conical diamond (Figure 5) will place your final occlusal anatomy. If needed, use the point of the medium flame (Figure 6) to refine the occlusal anatomy. Complete the restoration using the pink medium finish diamond polishing cup with medium/light pressure (Figure 7).

Caring for your G-Block™
Repeated autoclaving may cause the G-Block locking mechanism to feel tight or begin to squeak. Apply one drop of hand piece lubricant to the lubricating hole on the base of the L-shaped arm (Figure 9). Rotate the arm several times to distribute the oil for trouble free operation.

Special Notes:
Polishing cups provide an optimum shine with two polishing steps and do not require the use of pastes or additional abrasives.
Do not discard the polishing cups when the cup portion has been worn down. The resulting barrel shape is excellent for polishing buccal and lingual inclines of the occlusal cusps (Figure 8).
Use the items needed for one patient and place them back in the bur block. Autoclave the entire set at one time to minimize the chances of misplacing these special pieces.
Note for Star® Brand slow speed hand piece users: If you have difficulty inserting the FK-070 and FK-080 diamond polishing cups so that they fully engage the latch mechanism, simply remove the red and yellow identification stripes from the shafts of the cups. Once the identification stripes are removed, these cups will properly engage the latch mechanism.
