Composi-Tight Gold ensures consistently superior contacts on posterior composite restorations. There are many design features that make the product easy to use, versatile for a wide range of applications, and superior to similar-looking products.
Feature Composi-Tight Gold™ Feature Benefit
Retaining Rings Rings are more resilient than our original rings, and the most resilient of all rings on the market today (as measured by the deflection in the ring after use). This is accomplished with an oval wire that is thicker in the vertical dimension, while the horizontal dimension is slightly thinner than our original ring. This provides extra strength with less opportunity for permanent deformation when opened. Rings will consistently produce tight contacts over a longer ring life.
The rings are stronger than our original ring. In addition to the thicker vertical dimension and new steel, the rings have been pre-set with a tension in the resting position (as evidenced by the tines pushing against one another before use). Rings provide more separating pressure to ensure tight contacts.
The gold color comes from a secondary stress-relieving process that helps secure the pre-set tension. This color may fade over time, but the electropolished finish will maintain its luster and will not affect the performance of the ring in any way. Helps set the tension of the rings while providing visual differentiation from other ring designs.
The features that helped set original Composi-Tight G-Rings apart from other rings on the market still remain. They include better retention in the mouth (from the converging tines and burnished ends), ability to stack rings over one another for MODs and multiple-tooth restorations (from two sizes of rings), and their ability to adapt alongside a wedge better than rectangular rings (from their round/oval wire shape).
Matrix Bands Five (5) band sizes. Five band sizes allow selection of the band that best fits the restoration. Keeping the top of the matrix even with the marginal ridge will result in a contact at the height of contour.

Pedodontic band for primary teeth. The extension on the pedodontic matrix follows the natural contour of the gingiva in children.
Small band for bicuspids and small molars. The small band places the contact at the height of contour on bicuspids and many adult molars.
The small and standard bands have been extended approximately 16% in the buccal-lingual dimension. This allows the band to wrap around the tooth more for restoring wider embrasures, and helps prevent the band from becoming displaced during wedge or ring placement.
The small band curvature is reduced slightly in the occlusal-gingival dimension so that it has the same curvature as the standard band. Permits easier band placement due to the slightly flatter shape. More accurately reflects the true anatomy of the tooth, producing a better restoration.
Extended small band for bicuspids and small molars with sub-gingival extensions. The extended small band places the contact at the height of contour on bicuspids and many adult molars.
Standard band for most molars. The standard band places the contact at the height of contour on most adult molars.
Large band for deep sub-gingival restorations. Although not used as frequently by the dentist, the large band has an extension that allows the matrix to be used on deep, sub-gingival restorations.
3-Dimensional Contour Contact achieved at height of contour. No loss of contact during occlusal adjustment. Broader contact area. Reduces gap below the contact area.
The gold color comes from a secondary stress relieving process that gives the band material more resiliency than our original bands. The slightly stiffer bands will not "crinkle" as easily during placement, making them simpler to place.
Sectional Matrix Bands Easier to burnish. Easier to place band on Class II filling (can be difficult to place a Tofflemire-style band between the contact opposite the side being restored).
30µm (or .0013 inches)

GDS matrix bands are almost half the thickness of some other sectional matrix bands. This means that not as much separation of the teeth is required to achieve a good contact. Easier to slide band into place. Easier to burnish & broaden contact area.
Ring Placement Forceps New tip design with a double radius. Securely grasps both the original G-Rings and the new G-Rings securely (note that the original ring placement forceps can still be used with the new design, but the new design is more secure with both styles of ring).
Gold plated handles Provides visual identification and superior aesthetics over the original design and other rubber dam forceps.
Use Instructions Composi-Tight Gold kits and replacement components come with complete, detailed instructions. Composi-Tight Gold's instructions are complete and easy to follow, and include illustrations that correspond to the step-by-step instructions.
Product Packaging New plastic box design made of polypropylene. Considerably more durable than the original polystyrene box design, so there is less damage in shipping and in the dental office.
Item codes and description on each box. Makes ordering refills easier.
