Pinch MatricesNot every Class II can be restored with Composi-Tight®, so when you need a full matrix, Garrison has you covered. Pinch™ Matrices are retainerless blue transparent Tofflemire-style matrices with a built-in tensioning ring. There’s no more fiddling with retainers or fancy tightening devices, simply slip around the tooth to be restored and Pinch!

Pinch Matrices

Pinch Matrices Placement Instructions

  • Pre-wedge the affected tooth with a wedge to allow for matrix placement if contact is not broken (figure 1).
  • Slip the appropriate size of Pinch Matrix around the tooth, removing the pre-wedge just before fully seating the matrix (figures 2 and 3).
  • Pinch the tensioning loop with your fingers starting closest to the tooth—don’t over-tighten the matrix or it will be difficult to get proper contact (figures 4 and 5).
  • Wedge firmly. The addition of a Composi-Tight® separator ring and/or a contact forming instrument such as our TN009 Multi-Function Composite Instrument will help you achieve a tighter contact (figure 6).
