Class II MOD #12 using Composi-Tight 3DXR - Robert Rosenfeld, DDS

Robert Rosenfeld, DDS

A DL restoration had been present on #11, but its contour was somewhat concave. It was decided that that filling would be modified first to create a more convex contour against which #12 could be built.

Margin Elevation Technique: #2 and #3 Deep Subgingival Caries

Dr. Matthew A. Nejad, DDS

The margin elevation technique allows proper isolation and elevation of deep margin areas prior to restoring with an indirect partial coverage restoration (inlay or onlay). The use of the Garrison Reel Matrix margin elevation band allows proper adaptation and seal of these deep areas so that a composite margin elevation can be performed.

Class II DO on Second Bicuspid using Composi-Tight 3D Clear - Enrico Cogo, DDS

Enrico Cogo, DDS

The 3D Clear system combines transparent and translucent materials to allow for trans-enamel polymerization. You can apply the curing light from both the buccal and lingual surfaces without interference from metal matrix bands and opaque separator rings. This easily allows for proper curing of deeper proximal boxes and is also beneficial for bulk-filling Class II restorations.

Composi-Tight® 3D XR Sectional Matrix System: Strength and Innovation

Clarence Tam, HBSc, DDS

Dentists struggle on a daily basis with Class II restorations, especially on short or malpositioned teeth. There is the struggle of needing a tight gingival seal to minimize overhangs, the need for post-restorative finishing, and the struggle of attaining perfect anatomical contours.  I had the opportunity to work with the Garrison Composi-Tight® 3D XR system over the last few months. Here are my observations.

Achieving Tight Contact in Large Posterior Composite Restorations Using a Sectional Matrix System with Pre-contoured Matrix Bands: Composi-Tight®

Dory Stutman, DDS
For conservative Class II restorations, restorations distal of canines and/or short or malpositioned teeth, and slightly wide and/or deep restorations, the use of a flexible sectional matrix combined with a separation ring (e.g., Composi-Tight®, Garrison Dental) makes the direct posterior composite placement technique efficient and predictable. The separate contoured ring and matrix bands create an ideal environment in which to place an anatomically correct and properly contoured restoration, while the size options provide enough customization for a correct fit for every unique clinical situation. As the demand for amalgam restorations decreases and clinicians are faced with demands for functional, long-lasting, and esthetic posterior restorations, the efficiency, simplicity, and predictability of the Composi-Tight® system make it an ideal addition to the direct posterior composite armamentarium.

Multiple Tooth Restorations using Composi-Tight 3D Clear, Pinch Matrices and PerForm - Jack D. Griffin, Jr., DMD, MAGD

Jack D. Griffin, Jr., DMD, MAGD

With multiple restorations in a quadrant, many practitioners will restore a single tooth at a time or every other tooth. It is often more difficult to place the subsequent matrices and so it is often more efficient to do all teeth at one time if possible. The ring and sectional systems from Garrison allow for predictable, broad and deep contacts with high efficiency. We are way past Tofflemire matrix holders and bulky retainers.

Utilizing Innovative Matrix Systems to Achieve Predictable Anterior Direct Composite Restorations

Dory Stutman, DDS
Direct anterior composite restorations inherently demand precise placement of appropriately shaded composites, attention to anatomical characteristics, and thorough refinement of the embrasures, incisal edges, emergence profile, gingival margins, and proximal contacts. Whether to repair wear, caries, chips or factures, or to enhance tooth shape, size and color for esthetic reasons, direct anterior composite restorations can present clinicians with various technique-related challenges based on the clinical situation at hand.
