Cervical Matrix & Anterior Matrix Flier
Over the last month I have started to use the Composi-Tight 3D Clear sectional matrix from Garrison and cannot imagine going back to using anything else.
With zero reprocessing and sterilization hassles and a lustrous diamond final gloss, Revv single patient mini-polishers get you across the finish line and on to your next patient.
It is likely that there had been a diastema prior to loss of old composite, but decided to close it with a new restoration.
The margin elevation technique allows proper isolation and elevation of deep margin areas prior to restoring with an indirect partial coverage restoration (inlay or onlay). The use of the Garrison Reel Matrix margin elevation band allows proper adaptation and seal of these deep areas so that a composite margin elevation can be performed.
The challenge with Class II restorations has always been to recreate contact to the adjacent tooth and at the same time, restore proper interproximal anatomic form given the limitations of conventional matrix systems. The thickness of the matrix band and the ability to compress the periodontal ligaments of the tooth being restored and the one adjacent to it can sometimes make the restoration of proximal tooth contact laborious at best.
Achieving a high level of predictability with Class II composite fillings can be a tremendous benefit to the bottom line in any practice. When this procedure can be reliably completed in an efficient manner, it becomes an outstanding revenue generator and a great service to the patient. Dentists struggle on a daily basis with Class II restorations, especially on short or malpositioned teeth. There is the struggle of needing a tight gingival seal to minimize overhangs, the need for post-restorative finishing, and the struggle of attaining perfect anatomical contours. I had the opportunity to work with the Garrison Composi-Tight® 3D XR system over the last few months. Here are my observations.
