Meeting and Greeting the Pulp: What’s New When Visiting an Old Friend

Vital pulp therapy for permanent teeth is an evolving endodontic treatment focused on preserving pulpal vitality and function after injury from caries, trauma, or restorative procedures. The American Association of Endodontists recognizes vital pulp therapy as a meaningful option that extends beyond traditional pulp capping and pulpotomy procedures in immature teeth.

Current evidence supports its use in selected mature permanent teeth, including some cases once treated only with root canal therapy. This course reviews indications, case selection, and clinical considerations for incorporating vital pulp therapy into contemporary practice.
