Dr. Matthew Burton, DDS has been practicing dentistry in Illinois since graduating from UIC College of Dentistry in 2008. Like many dentists, much of his day was filled with Class II composite restorations—but he grew frustrated with the matrix systems available. After years of trying nearly every option, he realized the key challenge was proper placement and wedging. That led him to develop the innovative Split Wedge, designed to improve seal, contour, and efficiency while minimizing post-op adjustments.

In 2017, Dr. Burton launched Burton Dental Innovations to share his solutions with other dentists, and he’s since partnered with Garrison Dental Solutions on an advanced matrix ring system launching in 2025. Beyond matrix systems, he’s passionate about emerging dental technologies like digital scanning, 3D printing, and smile design software, believing they’re essential for everyday efficiency and predictable results.

Since 2020, Dr. Burton has been teaching CE courses worldwide, sharing practical strategies that have elevated care in his own practice. He lives in Hinsdale, IL with his wife and their three kids—two girls and a boy—and practices in nearby Frankfort.
